Paul McCarney

Postdoc, Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council

Dr. Paul McCarney (settler, he/him) is a transdisciplinary conservation scientist and advocate. Paul lives and works in the traditional and self-governing territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council in Whitehorse, Yukon, where he is grateful to be a visitor and collaborator. Paul’s research is grounded in anti-colonial, feminist, Indigenous, and Western conservation science methodologies to focus on knowledge co-production involving social scientists, natural scientists, and community experts. Paul joined the NGPlastics project working under the supervision of Dr. Max Liboiron and Liz Pijogge to work on organizing on-the-land workshops in Nunatsiavut and communicating lessons and knowledge gained about local research priorities and perspectives.
