CINUK Impact Study

The Canada–Inuit Nunangat–United Kingdom Arctic Research Programme (CINUK) is a landmark collaboration between six partners – Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, UK Research and Innovation, Polar Knowledge Canada, the National Research Council of Canada, Parks Canada, and the Fonds de recherche du Québec – committed to a new model of Arctic research grounded in equitable partnership, shared governance, and Inuit leadership. From the outset, the programme has supported high‑quality, community‑driven research that responds directly to priorities identified by Inuit communities across Inuit Nunangat.

This report (finalised in April 2026) presents the outcomes of that effort through thirteen interdisciplinary projects spanning themes such as ecosystem health, country foods, safe travel, energy, coastal resilience, pollution, and community well‑being. Together, these projects demonstrate how research rooted in Inuit knowledge and values can inform decision‑making, build local capacity, and strengthen community resilience, while offering a respectful framework for international research partnerships guided by Inuit priorities.
